Irritable Bowel Syndrome, (IBS).

IBS is one of the most common ailments of the digestive system and it is essential that you discuss your condition with your GP before seeking therapy.

IBS symptoms can vary from constipation to diarrhoea or even both at the same time (although  the latter is rare). It is characterised by a collection of symptoms affecting the small or large bowel which can cause pain and discomfort.  The symptoms of IBS can often be reduced by diet change and by understanding the nature of the condition. It has been suggested that IBS can often be triggered by stress.

Each therapy is individually tailored for the client.

• Hypnotherapy has been recommended by National Institute for Health & Clinical Guidance (NICE) and the NHS as a useful therapy tool for dealing with IBS. The Hypnotherapy techniques I utilise aim at helping you to alleviate the symptoms through: relaxation, creative visualization, creating a harmony within the body and reprogramming of stress triggers. It is a thorough nine-stage methodology carried out over several sessions.

Cognitive Behavioural Therapy , (CBT) is also recommended by the NHS as a therapy tool for IBS and is based on the principle that the way you feel depends partly on the way you think. Studies have shown that by training yourself to react differently to IBS by using relaxation techniques and staying positive, you should see a decrease in pain levels.
